Secretary for Resources Mike Chrisman issued a statement Mar. 7 in response to comments made by U.S. Agriculture Undersecretary Mark Rey at a Wildland Urban Interface conference in Reno. Secretary for Resources Mike Chrisman and Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. filed a U.S. District Court complaint Feb. 28, 2008 contesting four Southern California forest management plans. In August 2007, the United States Forest Service denied California's appeals of management plans for the Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres and San Bernardino National Forests. These plans cover 3.5 million acres of national forest lands.
