- Ocean Resources Management Program - Coordinates the policies of state departments with jurisdiction over ocean and coastal resources, coordinates state agency management of ocean resources with local government, and ensures effective participation in federal planning and management.
- California Ocean Protection Council - As part of his Ocean Action Plan, Gov. Schwarzenegger established the California Ocean Protection Council in 2004 to coordinate the state's ocean and coastal protection polices and programs.
- Marine Life Protection Act Initiative - The Resources Agency launched the MLPA Initiative in 2004 to establish marine protected areas along California's 1,100 mile coastline. Once established, these areas will help protect the diversity and abundance of marine life.
