What is Sierra Planning and Economic Development?

These two agencies are co-located. Sierra Planning Organization (SPO) is a Joint Powers Authority directed by elected officials from local government agencies in Sierra, Nevada, Placer, and El Dorado counties. SPO Board provides a forum to discuss and recommend action for governmental issues affecting the region.

Sierra Economic Development District (SEDD) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the creation of full employment while preserving the quality of life for people who live in the same four county region. The SEDD Board of directors and staff use several means to accomplish goals; they:

• develop and finance small businesses,
  
• conduct research and encourage new industry development,
  
• support other local economic agencies in the region,
  
• compile, analyze, and provide regional economic and demographic data, and
  
• increase our regional infrastructure's capacity to support residents, commerce, and industry.
