To the editor:
Well, here we are, ready to come together for a symbolic summit on the environment, hosted by the create-a-crisis-club (Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, League to Enslave Lake Tahoe, some group of lawyers from San Francisco, and whoever else can fight their way close enough to Clinton to get funded).
The crowning moment will be when Eddie Haskell and his band of federal land-grabbers all show up and play "show me da money." Even the Washoe Indians want in on this for their own casino, all the while environmentalists crowd in for the kill on everything from algae that actually has the nerve to grow in water, to soil daring to wash down flooded rivers in a way they don't approve of. The jet ski concessionaires should get in line with hands out and remind Eddie that Yamaha waverunners and Kawasaki jet skis are made by Asian contributors of the future. As we all get sidetracked by all this symbolism over substance, we should remind ourselves that our personal and private rights are incrementally being reduced, not just by the EPA and their agenda, but by the tax code and an every-day assault on the free enterprise system - all fueled by misleading statistics in the all-too-liberal media.
Still, we want Clinton to have a good time while he is in Tahoe, so we should appoint someone he would like to play golf with and show him around. (I hear Terry Trupp is out of jail.) Sit back and watch the freak show ...
