Description: Collect macro-invertebrates from the Carson River near the high school and compare with data collected in other river reaches and to investigate watershed uses to attempt to correlate land uses and presence of macro-invertebrates. This study can identify land uses friendly to macro-invertebrates and the overall river ecosystem.

Instructional Goals of the Project:

• Data collection
• Field work including mapping and recording findings
• Long term data collection/evaluation effort to identify trends important to the developing community.
• Share info with government decision makers and the community.

Evaluation Technique: student data reports, maps, presentations/other communication to public groups, tests.
