Drainage Basin Investigation in Kings Beach: Use and Effectiveness
Project Description

Description: Work with the California Tahoe Conservancy (CTC) to address neighborhood use and overall effectiveness issues for three drainage basins in the Kings Beach area. The students will design and produce bilingual informative signs to stop neighborhood children from using the basins as bicycle tracks. They will also monitor vegetation establishment in the basins and examine how basins work to improve water quality. This study will add to knowledge about culturally appropriate environmental education and can promote appropriate outdoor uses of the environment.

Instructional Goals of the Project:

Evaluation Technique: Children present their work to agencies involved. Presentation to parents. Small group tour of site led and narrated by children.
