Post Survey Letter for Future TBWAN Members

Letter sent to all organizations not chosen as part of the initial twenty-five to participate in the Tahoe Basin Wide Area Network (TBWAN):

Future NTIA Grant Program Participation

Over the last two months the staff at TCSF has contacted over 100 organizations in the Region to determine interest in the NTIA Grant Program. Due to the amount of response and interest in the NTIA Grant Program, we are sorry to say that your organization was not chosen for the initial group.

Although the grant funding limits us to an initial group of approximately 25, we will create an infrastructure which will allow all of us in the region to work together to promote better communications abilities as we expand the initial effort. The overall effort will create the foundation for a successful region-wide communications system for the future. If there is another way we can include your organization please contact us as we are seeking other ideas for applications and solicit your input. Even though your organization is not part of the initial group, the opportunity will be available to participate with the TBWAN in the future. Likewise, if your organization does not require this type of assistance, we can still create a TBWAN-link on the internet for your organization without formal inclusion in the program.

You may visit the Tahoe Regional Index (still under construction) online at http://www.ceres.ca.gov/tcsf/region.html or see the homepages that have been created so far as part of the grant program at http://www.ceres.ca.gov/tcsf/tbwan.html (to date, these include TCSF, TRPA, TTREC, California Tahoe Conservancy, Sierra District State Parks, Tahoe Foundation, Strategic Marketing Group, and Tahoe Baikal Institute). This project has created a Tahoe Basin wide-area network (TBWAN) with linked web sites on the internet.

Whether or not your organization is part of the initial group, you and members of your staff are welcome to attend any of our upcoming Internet Workshops at Sierra Nevada College for training:

Please contact Sue Rae Irelan (916-525-1646) for more information and workshop registration or for any ideas you may have for applications which would add value to your efforts.

Thank you for your interest and participation in this important program.

Sincerely,

Joseph Kruth
